Colon hydrotherapy is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the large intestine or colon without the use of chemicals or drugs. This is a restorative, painless procedure that is both relaxing and effective. By introducing filtered and temperature regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis. This process is repeated a few times during a session.
Colon Hydrotherapy is also described as an extended & more complete form of an enema. The enema's cleansing is limited to the lower bowel whereas a colon hydrotherapy session extends beyond the lower bowel to cleanse the entire colon offering greater therapeutic benefits. Enemas or laxatives may precipitate dehydration while colon hydrotherapy actually improves the hydration status of the individual.
The removal of waste from the body encourages better colon function and elimination. Today's sophisticated technology promotes both the safety and sanitation of this popular cleansing practice. We use only F.D.A. registered equipment with disposable rectal tubes, speculums and tubing. Colon hydrotherapy is best used in combination with adequate nutrient and fluid intake as well as exercise. It is also recommended in conjunction with any of our Cleansing & Detoxification Programs.
Q: How long does the procedure last?
A: Typically, the session itself will last 45-50 minutes. For your first visit, plan on being at the center for 1 ½-2 hours. Prior to beginning the first session, the therapist will discuss the client’s need and concerns for coming in as well as explain the procedure and answer any questions.
Q: How often do I need to have this done?
A: This is determined on an individual basis and will be decided between you and the therapist. If you have never done colon cleansing before, it is suggested that you receive more than 1 treatment. You large intestine is 5-7 feet long, therefore, it is unrealistic to entirely cleanse that much space in 1 session. Typically, my clients receive anywhere between 6-12 sessions over a designated period of time. The frequency of your sessions is determined after the initial treatment. Colon hydrotherapy can also be used as part of any regular maintenance program once the initial colon cleansing series is completed. If you have specific health challenges, it is always important to consult with your doctor or competent health practitioner before embarking on any new treatment.
Q: Does the procedure hurt?
A: A session is a comfortable experience for many people. It produces no toxicity. Techniques utilized allow a small amount of water to flow into the colon gently stimulating the colon's natural peristaltic action to release softened waste. The inflow of a small amount of water and the release of waste may be repeated several times. The removal of waste should encourage better colon function and elimination. During the session, you will be draped, or a gown might be worn to ensure modesty. Your dignity is always maintained.
Q: Can I take over-the-counter Colon Cleansers and get the same results?
A: In my 8 years of experience doing Colon Hydrotherapy, I have had many clients who take the oral colon cleansers. Many of these cleansers are effective for getting the bowel to move, some contain harsh, stimulating herbs that can irritate the body and potentially cause cramping and diarrhea. Although oral colon cleaners help to remove waste from the body, they are not effective for thoroughly washing the colon of old debris and mucus that may have accumulated on the sides of the colon. For optimal results, I suggest that clients purchase a good quality colon cleanse program and do Colon Hydrotherapy sessions at the same time to ensure a thorough cleansing of the bowel and accessory organs.
Q: Does this procedure take away my healthy flora?
A: For the most part, with our overuse of antibiotics and processed foods it is often questionable how much healthy flora is actively living in our gastrointestinal tract to begin with. With Colon Hydrotherapy, the colon is cleaned, creating space and an environment for healthy flora to flourish. At the end of the session, the therapist will suggest that a person take probiotics containing active cultures of healthy flora as well.
Q: How much does a session cost?
A: Colon Hydrotherapy sessions range from $70.00 to $89.00 depending on which location you choose. For fee schedules and locations Contact Janee. Some locations accept your insurance (payment is due at the time of service and your insurance company will send you a reimbursement check if they cover this procedure).
Q: How do I get started?
A: We book by appointment only. Contact Janee to make an appointment. Once the appointment is set, it is often suggested to lighten up your diet 1-2 days prior to the treatment incorporating fresh fruits, vegetables and plenty of fresh, clean water.
